Oklahoma has yet another reason to be proud. Her name is Julie Christian Pittman, recently crowned Mrs. Oklahoma 2013 at the Guthrie Scottish Rite Theater. The Mrs. Oklahoma pageant, official state preliminary competition for the Mrs. America contest, celebrates the achievements, poise, grace and personality of Oklahoma's highly accomplished married women. The competition involves civically engaged married women making a difference by being involved in their communities who are excited about celebrating marriage. Julie was one of seventeen candidates competing for the coveted title based on overall personality and articulation skills, confidence, achievements, poise and appearance throughout the competition. Fifty percent of the overall score went to the interview competition, and 25 percent went to physical fitness and evening gown competitions, respectively.
Julie is a 2007 graduate of Owasso High School. In 2011, Julie graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a B.A. in Political Science and Global Studies. She firmly believes in the importance of education and the valuable contribution of community engaged citizens to our society.
Currently, Julie is a Juris Doctoral Candidate completing her 2nd year at the University of Tulsa College of Law. Her platform "No Excuse for Child Abuse" emphasizes our desperate need to promote awareness of child abuse and the resources available to children being abused. As Mrs. Oklahoma, Julie will implement her platform throughout Oklahoma by promoting the statewide child abuse hotline, fundraising for Oklahoma child abuse intervention agencies, and educating communities on citizen's duties to abused children. Upon becoming a licensed attorney, Julie will focus on child crime issues. Julie's husband, Spencer Pittman, is completing his 3rd year as a Juris Doctoral Candidate at the University of Tulsa College of Law. He is very supportive of Julie's commitment to education, her career goals, and the mutual priority of their marriage. She is the daughter of proud parents, Paul and Jana Christian, of Owasso. Julie is extremely excited about the upcoming year and is honored to represent Oklahoma at the national level.
